My name is Shawn, I’m a Mandarin tutor and a dentistry student from Taiwan.

As a current student studying in something which is completely new to me, yeah I’m talking about the dentistry HAHA, I can not only fully understand and empathize how would you feel and what problem you may occur when you’re studying Chinese but also provide you the most effective advices and be your strongest support along your Chinese study journey.

Problem Based Learning, or PBL for short, is a preferred interview method at medical universities in Taiwan, a interviewer will choose a discussion topic or issue for a groupe of interviewee to think, debate and eventually make a conclusion for their discussion content. However, for me, I won’t consider it as a test method only, instead, I think that it is actually a highly efficient and interesting way to learning, especially for learning language.

Let me explain this, imagine that you are in my class, and I have throw out a question, for example, I ask you “You think the invention of the mobile phone is a good thing or a bad thing?”, then we can discuss this matter further, maybe you will come up with some pros and cons about that little cube we holding every day, and I will show my thought about this topic also.

And here comes the most amazing part about this learning method, during this process, you could not only really have a serious brainstorming about this issue but also, along this entire conversation, you could recognize abundant of the vocabularies and practice your speaking ability in Chinese constantly which could help you build up the confidence of speaking Chinese, and all these wonderful outcomes stem from very casual and ordinary conversations!
