It seems that Thomas came in at the wrong time. I was taught by Patty for about 1 and a half years, and I can say that it was an amazing experience. She was fun, interactive, and the lessons stuck. However, she recently stopped teaching due to stress and work. She never missed a class, and if she knew she wouldn't make it, she cancelled it beforehand. I made it through the entirety of HSK 2 and almost through HSK 3. Of course, now that she has stopped, you most likely shouldn't try contacting her. However, if she were to come back to teaching, you should definitely go with her.

We selected Patty at the start of the year as our partner for HSK lessons for my son. After three promising lessons we experienced a complete breakdown in communication and reliability over the next three lessons. One lesson cancelled in advance due to too much school work, the following lesson cancelled 31 minutes into the session after a no show by the tutor, the following lesson a complete no show by the tutor with no communication before or afterwards. After a further 6 days we finally received a note to say that the tutor had been sick and would no longer be available for teaching due to too much school work. From our perspective this has been a complete waste of effort to establish a partnership at the start of the year and set a course to HSK. Just lost time and inconvenience. While the tutor may be a very good teacher - I recommend you discuss how reliability will be ensured.
